aseXML Standard Working Group (ASWG)
Responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to NEMMCO about changes to the aseXML Standard. It adopts a multilateral approach to the development of the aseXML Standard with equal regard to the interests of each Australian Energy Market.

A number of industry user groups have been established to facilitate the continuing improvement of NEMMCO IT systems.
Participant Advisory Committee (PAC)
The function of the Participant Advisory Committee is to provide informed input to the NEMMCO Board on a regular basis on issues referred to the Committee by the NEMMCO Board, and on issues of concern to Registered Participants.
Wind Energy Industry Reference Group (WEIRG)
Industry reference group to NEMMCO on issues related to wind generation.

Market Operator Working Group (MOWG)
MOWG is comprised of representatives of the market operators, NGF, gas pipelines, Gas Market leaders Group and all the jurisdictions.

Retail Electricity Market National Operations Committee (REMNOC)
REMNOC provides a forum for interaction between NEMMCO, jurisdictions and regulators in relation to MSATS and IT operations, retail market developments and jurisdictional matters.

Connection Point Working Group (CPWG)
Involves representatives from all Transmission and Distribution Network Service Providers (LNSP) and Responsible Persons (RP).
Meetings issues relate to NEM market processes as specifically relating to the registration of Wholesale Market Connections for Market Generators, Wholesale Metering points and interconnectors.Information Exchange Committee (IEC)
The IEC is established under the Rules (7.2A.2) as a decision making body responsible for Business to Business (B2B) procedures and transactions. NEMMCO provides secretariat support to the IEC and also formally approves the IEC’s decisions.
- B2B Procedures Reference Group (BPRG)
The BPRG's role is to facilitate the management of B2B documentation and assist with the development of new, and update current, B2B procedures.
Meter Data Provider Working Group (MDPWG)
Involves representatives from all accredited Metering Data Providers (MDPs). Meeting issues relate to NEM market processes as they specifically relate to Metering Data Providers. Primary meeting issues relate to service level requirements, metering data processes, performance compliance, new technologies, customer transfer relationships, operational issues, audits etc and endeavors to collate Metering Data Provider issues across the market for submission and consideration by other working groups.
Metering Provider Working
Group [MPWG]
Involves representatives from all accredited Metering Providers (MPAs and MPBs). Meeting issues relate to NEM market processes as they specifically relate to Metering Providers and the installation, provisioning and maintenance of metering installations. In particular meeting issues relate to Metrology compliance, new metering technology, standing data management and customer transfer interfaces and relationships, operational issues, metering installation audits etc, and endeavors to collate Metering Provider issues across the market for submission and consideration by other working groups.
Meter Services Working Group (MSWG)
The MSWG is responsible to NEMMCO for defining procedures and guidelines pertaining to the accreditation, auditability and service level requirements applicable to metering service providers, (Meter Data Agents and Metering Providers), operating within the NEM. The Working Group will help NEMMCO to facilitate the adoption of appropriate procedures that deliver the strategies needed to meet NEM operational requirements.
Retail Market Executive Committee (RMEC)
The RMEC is an executive level advisory body to NEMMCO on matters relevant to the retail market other that B2B. A number of specialist reference groups are set up as required to support the RMEC.
- Metrology Reference Group (MRG)
The Reference Group provides an industry review of NEMMCO metrology development activity, with particular reference to Chapter 7 of the Rules, and the Metrology Procedures. The work of the group is published to NEMConnect. Recommendations from the Metrology Reference Group are presented to the Retail Market Executive Committee for endorsement. - Business Process and Data Reference Group (PDRG)
The reference group provides a forum for defining and coordinating the implementation of NEM business processes associated with metering and retail market developments. While commercial decisions about the implementation of these business processes are the responsibility of NEM participant businesses, the Working Group helps NEMMCO to define and facilitate the adoption of appropriate technologies and practices that deliver jurisdictional policies and strategies determined in consultation with the industry.
Wholesale Market
Dispatch & Pricing Reference Group (DPRG)
The DPRG is a technical advisory group that assists NEMMCO when developing proposals to address current and ad-hoc issues relating to bidding, dispatch, pricing and PASA. Each participant category is represented and members are sought from industry bodies such as the National Generators Forum (NGF) and the Energy Retailers Association of Australia (ERAA).
Forced Outage Data Working Group (FODWG)
Comprises generator representatives from the National Generators Forum. Representatives have been selected to provide adequate representation from each NEM region. The working group was formed to assist NEMMCO in the standardisation of the collection of generator forced outage data. It facilitates the involvement of the National Generators Forum in providing expertise and commentary on the appropriate recording of forced outage data.
Inter Regional Planning
Committee [IRPC]
Under the National Electricity Rules (Clause 5.6.3) the IRPC is responsible for the coordination of inter-regional planning in the NEM. Membership is sought from Jurisdiction nomination. A number of specialist technical groups are set up as required to support the IRPC.
- Flow Path Working Group (FPWG)
The FPWG contributes to coordination of planning activities in the NEM through contributions to and feedback on the Annual National Transmission Statement, published annually by NEMMCO. - Inter-Network Test Working Group (INTWG)
The INTWG provides advice to the IRPC regarding technical aspects and general matters relating to inter-network tests. It also provides a forum for the sharing of information relevant to preparation for, and conduct of, and inter-network test; and assists with the coordination of test analysis and interpretation of results. - Load Forecasting Reference Group (LFRG)
The main objective of the LFRG is to ensure that the regional energy and maximum demand projections across the National Electricity Market (NEM) are:
The LFRG consists of representatives from NEMMCO (including a convenor) and each of JPBs. Western Power (WP) and Independent Market Operator of Western Australia (IMOWA) have observer status on the LFRG.
- developed by jurisdictional planning bodies (JPBs) on an as-consistent as-possible basis; and
- delivered to NEMMCO timely for the production of SOO.
The LFRG is also committed to continuous improvement of the load forecasting process. - Market Simulations Working Group (MSWG)
The MSWG provides advice on matters relating to market simulations. It also contributes to the ongoing development of market simulation skills and expertise and the improvement of tools and techniques. - Plant Modelling Working Group (PMWG)
The PMWG is a technical advisory group to the Inter-Regional Planning Committee (IRPC). The group provides advice on the modelling techniques to be used by TNSP’s and NEMMCO, and ensuring an accurate power system model is maintained. The members consist primarily of technical experts from the jurisdictional planning bodies. The IRPC may also invite any other party that may have an interest, or may make a contribution to a particular project.
- Transmission Outage Working Group (TOWG)
The TOWG provides continued development of appropriate and efficient methods to represent transmission outages in market simulations, and works to improve the quality of transmission outage input data used by NEMMCO and Jurisdictional Planning Bodies.
Market Systems Reference Group (MSRG)
The objective of the MSRG is to provide a forum for the informed discussion and collaborative development of industry wide strategies, standards, the planning of future direction and the implementation of NEM Wholesale Market Systems enhancements.
NEM Operations Committee (NEMOC)
Consists of TNSP, Jurisdictional Planning Body and NEMMCO representatives. Discusses network operation issues and facilitate the operational interface between NEMMCO and TNSPs.
Operations Planning Working Group (OPWG)
The Operations Planning Working Group (OPWG) reports to the National Electricity Market Operations Committee (NEMOC), and is comprised of representatives of NEMMCO and TNSPs.
It is a technical working group to consider operations planning issues under the control or influence of NEMMCO and / or the TNSPs with a view to improving the management of power system security and NEM efficiency.
Power System Security Working Group (PSSWG)
Aims to achieve consensus solutions to system security issues at an operational level. Operations representatives from TNSPs and NEMMCO.
Established under Rule 3.18.5, the SRC comprises representatives of generators, retailers, traders, TNSP, Jurisdictions and end-use customers. The settlements residue committee is responsible to report on the auctions, for approving changes to the rules for the residue auctions in the national electricity market and the level of fees NEMMCO may charge for administering those auctions.
