Market Outcomes: The energy price in Queensland region increased significantly to $1729/MWh at trading interval ending 07:30hrs on Tuesday, 24 June 2008. At DI 07:30hrs, the price was $9994.92/MWh. Energy and Frequency Control Ancillary Service (FCAS) prices in other NEM regions were not affected.
Principal Contributors: The 30-minute market demand in Queensland increased by approximately 82MW. Transfer capability from New South Wales was restricted to approximately 31MW on Terranora interconnector and 119MW on QNI interconnector to avoid voltage collapse on the loss of Kogan Creek generator. With most Queensland generation capacity either fully dispatched at the lower priced bands or ramp rate limited, some of the 1440MW of capacity offered at the higher priced bands had to be dispatched.
The Queensland energy prices returned to typical values by DI 07:35hrs when the Queensland market demand decreased by approximately 109MW.
Market Performance: Outcomes appear to be consistent with the dispatch offers and power system conditions during the event.

At DI 07:10hrs, the price was $9494.95/MWh. Energy and Frequency Control Ancillary Service (FCAS) prices in other NEM regions were not affected.
Principal Contributors: The 30-minute market demand in Queensland increased by approximately 171MW. Transfer capability from New South Wales was restricted to approximately 39MW on Terranora interconnector and 124MW on QNI interconnector to avoid voltage collapse on the loss of Kogan Creek generator. With most Queensland generation capacity either fully dispatched at the lower priced bands, ramp rate limited or FCAS trapezium limited, some of the 1700MW of capacity offered at the higher priced bands had to be dispatched.
