At 10:43 hrs on 31 January 2008, flash-over of a malfunctioning Remote Operated Isolator resulted in the tripping of the No.1 500 kV bus at South Morang Terminal Station (SMTS). This event occurred shortly after the completion of switching operations for urgent maintenance of switchgear at South Morang Terminal Station.
This report has been prepared in accordance with Rule 4.8.15 of the National Electricity Rules to document NEMMCO’s assessment of the adequacy of the provision and response of facilities and the appropriateness of the actions taken to restore and maintain power system security.
