The Queensland region saw significantly high energy prices between DI 11:45 to DI 18:45 on Sunday, 4 November 2007. Energy and FCAS prices in other regions were not affected. During that period, there were sustained counter-price flows from Queensland to New South Wales. Power system security was not violated during the period.
Negative settlements residue of approximately $4.3 million for the day was accrued for the Queensland to New South Wales directional interconnector. The negative settlements residue accumulations could not be reduced without violating power system security.
This final market event report supersedes a preliminary report that was published on NEMMCO’s website on 16 November 2007.
