With the National Electricity Market and the use of Metering Data Providers to handle data associated with metering installations, there is a requirement that data be shipped between many different market participants and interested parties.
To make data import / export between different companies systems easier, the following standard ASCII file format has been introduced. Metering Data Providers are required to be able to supply at least this file format, enabling companies receiving data to build only one loading mechanism regardless of the number of source parties.

As part of the industry B2B/MDP working group established to define the NEM12 & NEM13 file format, a sub working group has been assigned to provide feedback to industry on areas within the published file format specification where clarifications are requested. This document is updated and published with responses to those requested industry clarifications.

As part of the industry B2B/MDP consultation phase undertaken on the revised MDFF, the national B2B/MDP working group requested NEMMCO, in conjunction with Meter Data Providers, to monitor and assist with the implementation of the revised MDFF format.
The attached 'NEM12 & NEM13 File Testing' document details the various test file-build scenarios undertaken within the inter MDP testing process. The NEM12 and NEM13 zip files contain the example files that have been passed and accepted within the inter MDP test process. Example zip files will be updated as more test files become available. Example 'Error' files are also made available which have deliberate file syntax and information errors. These files are provided to assist participants in the verification and build of MDFF loaders.
