General Schema Information
The aseXML schema consists of a number of individual files that must be combined to form the entire schema. The top level file is aseXML_*.xsd - where * is a specific schema release number - and all other files are incorporated by way of the W3C "include" mechanism in this file.
All but one of the files are fully version controlled and are released as a package under a specific schema version (i.e. r12) at specified release intervals. These files may only be changed by following the full ASWG Change Control process, and are released in accordance with the published Schema Release Schedule.
The remaining file, Enumerations.xsd, contains specific address enumeration values that may require change at short notice. This file is maintained and released separately to the other files, and so is not included in the packaged release. A user must download a Complete Set, plus the latest Enumerations.xsd file relevant to that release, in order to obtain a fully functional aseXML schema.
Note: The Enumerations.xsd file relates only to version r13 or later schemas. Prior to r13 all schema files in a release were fully version controlled and released as a single package.
XML Parsers and Schema Validation
Prior to publication the aseXML schema is validated using a number of different parsers. The parsers that are currently used to validate the schema are:
- XMLSpy version 4.3
- Xerces-J version 1.4.4
- Xerces-J version 2.2.1
- MSXML version 4.0 SP2
