Understanding MSATS

NEMMCO has prepared a 2-day face-to-face training course that explains how and why MSATS works the way that it does.

You should consider attending if you ever find yourself wondering the following:

• How can I use MSATS more effectively for my organisation ?
• What is the MSATS data structure and format ?
• What are the business processes that I need to be aware of ?
• Where do I fit in and what roles do other participants play in the process ?
• How do I use MSATS reports to get the information I need ?

If this sounds like you, then come along to the training. The entire course is presented by NEMMCO staff who are experts in MSATS (and the surrounding business processes) and who are only too happy to share their knowledge and experience with you. You can also meet and share your own experiences with other people in the industry who work in a similar environment.

Course Target Audience/ Pre-requisites

• Industry workers who want a working-level understanding of MSATS
• No formal course pre-requisites, but we recommend attending An Overview of the NEM first, as this course assumes a basic understanding of the NEM
• No prior reading

Course Content

Day 1

Day one of this course introduces some broad concepts about role of MSATS in the industry and then drills down into more detail about how MSATS contributes to accurate and efficient NEM settlement. We look at how customer transfer information is entered into and used by the system in terms of timeframes, rules and obligations.

Session 2 40 minutes	An Overview of MSATS
Session 3 60 minutes	Data Stored in CATS
Session 4 150 minutes	CATS Change Requests
Session 5 45 mins	Lifecycle of a NMI (continues into day 2)

 

Day 2

Day two continues to demystify the inner-workings of MSATS by looking at how Master Data and metering information are entered into and used by the system. We also look at how MSATS is ultimately used for wholesale market settlement and the IT systems and processes which chug along behind the scenes and make it all happen.
